Reflection - Connection to Me

Reflecting on all of this, I realized that cybersecurity isn’t only about knowing technical the technical tools involved in security, but its also about about being able to adapt and collaborate with a passion. It’s clear that building strong communication and people skills is just as important as staying informed on threats and technology. This has shown me that anyone with the right mindset and passion can find a meaningful place in the cybersecurity world, and cybersecurity is a cool way to channel your interests because as the world is growing in technology, it is becoming more and more important to secure our information.

Why Cybersecurity Is Important

Cybersecurity protects personal data, keeps privacy, and guards against threats in the digital world. It’s a constantly changing field that affects every aspect of life.

Cyber threats come in a lot of forms, and understanding them is crucial for defense. Attack types change constantly and can have large-scale impact.

Jobs in Cyber

The cybersecurity job market is quickly growing,and offering opportunities across different industries for those with the right mindset and skills.

  • In the next 5–10 years, every entity is going to be hiring and prioritizing cybersecurity. Right now, most of the large companies prioritize cyber, but medium to small companies usually have one cyber person
  • Many people don’t know how to secure code, and it is a wide open space that has a lot of space for growth
  • Healthcare IT is something that is growing in the future
  • You have to log things like human health tests, and there is a lot of growth opportunity here when compared to things like finance
  • Artificial intelligence is also growing a lot, and a lot of jobs are going to be lost because the AI can do their jobs
  • There are even people being employed in order to fire people

To succeed in cybersecurity, technical and soft skills are equally important. You have to be adaptable, curious, and have team work skills.

  • In order to become a computer science student who wants to be in cyber, you should get a background in IT
